I just returned from Spain, Andalusia more precisely, where I had the pleasure and honor to be invited at the 6th International Festival of Juego de Córdoba. An event of high quality entertainment in a beautiful historic building, under a beautiful sky and in a very good atmosphere, no less!

The organizers reserved me a royal welcome (I had a little flyer personalized with my exhaustive ludography, a round table meeting, some interviews and warm signing sessions…) Three extremely pleasant days during which I met a lot of players and presented some of my most advanced prototypes (Ali BabaTokaido and the second extension of 7 Wonders). I am also delighted with the success of Hanabi in spain : I have signed more Hanabi copies than 7 Wonders boxes, which should be highlighted: D

It was also to meet many players play the Iberian market (Ludonova, Asmodee Iberica, Cubo Magazine, 5Minutes per Juego …), to get to know Stefan Stadler (The Pillars of the Earth, World Without End … ), his colleague at Kosmos and recovered the magnificent trophy « Spiel des Suegras » for the gaming site with my Suegra.

A big thank you to Jesus and Sonso for their invitation, their hospitality, a visit to Córdoba: the festival was certainly the most enjoyable to me which it was given to participate in this day and hope to return during theedition 2012! Big thank you to Franky for the small representation of Close-up (and the part of the 51ststate!). Thank you to Oriol for introducing me to My Beautiful Laundry. Thanks to Issac for the delicious homemade ice cream (his shop is called « Il Piemonte »: If you go to Córdoba, you MUST stop there). Thank you to Noah to David, Josep. Thank you to Biblio, Gabriel, Thanks to the Taoist apprentices for letting me teach them how to play Ghost Stories (Do not break the rules boys!). Thanks to Stéphane for the translations, to Andrea for the interview, Haritz … I certainly forget a lot of people and I apologize. In short, a huge thanks to all players and to all the team of this great event :):):)

I almost forgot to mention 7 Wonders had not won the game of the year in Spain (the winner is Forbidden island) ! To give you an idea of places, people and atmosphere, watch the video of the wonderful team of 5 Minutes por Juego!

Festival Internacional De Juegos

Something nice when you’re a game designer haunting the gaming shows / festivals / conventions, is that you meet friendly people who organize other shows / festivals / conventions and, as a result, invite you to their own show / festival / convention ! Thank to Jesus, I will be « the guess of honor » of the 6th Festival Internacional de Juegos be held in Cordoba, October the 7th, 8th and 9th. A good opportunity to catch some sun before going shut, a few days later, in the Messe Essen … In addition, as suggested by the official poster, Hanabi who will be honored (Matthieu d’Epenoux from Cocktail Games will be on board, too). For one time, it’s not 7 Wonders we are talking about :-)
